Objective:
Provide the glass necessary to transform a
completely dilapidated old barber shop used by the
KGB into one of Moscow's first Western-style
cosmetics stores.
Challenge:
Construct glass display cases that would meet
several demanding requirements:
1. Protect the products on display from theft or
damage.
2. Survive being shipped from Dallas to Moscow
after being pre-assembled by Mammen Glass.
3. Be of high quality appearance and construction
so as not to distract from Mary Kay's image.
Solution:
Build hexagonal display cases from 3/8" thick
glass. Each case was custom-built to fit its base
and was fitted with brass locks. The cases were
then placed in a shipping container for the trip to
Russia.
This is a finished showcase just after
being delivered to the newly renovated
store in Moscow.

This is the old KGB barber shop before
being renovated into Mary Kay's Moscow
store. It is across the street from the
KGB building and was connected by an
underground tunnel so the agents didn't
have to face the harsh winter weather just
to get their hair cut!
